Back in the 1920s, modernist poet T.S. Eliot put pen to paper and out came “The Hollow Men” (Eliot scholars far and wide would likely be unsettled by that haphazard characterization). Good chance you can’t recite the poem by heart; good chance you have a bit of an idea about the conclusion of the poem.
Check out the final stanza:
“This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.”
Any chance the Vikings spent too much time reading “The Hollow Men” before their Wild Card Round flop? Playing like a hollow version of themselves, the Minnesota Vikings concluded things with a whimper. There were dreams of ending with a “bang,” a Super Bowl, but Kevin O’Connell is now down to 0-2 in the playoffs.
Someone in my position — I write about the Vikings to put food on the table, mostly on Vikings Territory and PurplePTSD — is thus left with one path forward: shifting into offseason mode alongside the team itself.
The regular season involved putting together a weekly piece that comes out on Friday morning. The current plan is to shift things down a bit, putting out a piece every two weeks on Friday morning.
So, keep stopping by The Vikings Gazette. The output is (admittedly) modest, but the hope is still that you’ll follow along and maybe even subscribe. Currently, the pieces just go up online rather than being sent via email, but that could be something that changes in the future.
Appreciate everyone who has been reading.

Dad Joke of the Week
Another week, another dad joke. Check it out:
“In 3,026 years, life will either be really good or really bad. It's 5050.” — Dadsaysjokes

Lost in the Shuffle, Vikings Sign a New Offensive Lineman: Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is constantly looking for ways to improve his roster. Does the new lineman carve out a role for himself with the Vikings in 2025?
As One Brian Flores Option Closes, Vikings May Consider Adding a Coach with a Patriots Connection: Kevin O’Connell and Jerod Mayo were part of the same draft class. Do they reconnect by becoming part of the same coaching staff? This one may not be dependent on Brian Flores departing but, rather, O’Connell’s desire to add a former teammate whom he holds in high regard.
Brian Flores, Ben Johnson, and The Weird Parallels Between the Rival Coaches: The obvious connection is simply that each is a creative, aggressive coordinator in the NFC North who is attracting head coach interest. Goes deeper than that, though.
Thanks for reading and take care of yourself.
